About the Board of Education

Every four years, nine trustees are elected to preside as the Rocky Mountain School District No. 6 (RMSD6) Board of Education (Board).  RMSD6 covers three zones: Kimberley, Windermere, and Golden. Three trustees are elected from each zone.

Under the School Act of British Columbia, each school district is required to have a Board that takes on much of the responsibility for the governance of public schools. The Board assumes the responsibility for governing the education system in a progressive, fiscally responsible, and educationally sound manner. The Trustees meet on the first Tuesday of every month (except July and August) to discuss the business of the school district like the budget, capital projects, human resources, and student issues.

The last election took place on October 15, 2022 and the next election will take place in 2026.
